Improving Customer Lifetime Value with Segmented Promotions & VIP Rewards

The Challenge 🚨

IPC had a loyal customer base but lacked a system to track customer spending, re-engage VIPs, or reward frequent visitors. We introduced a tiered loyalty system to increase per-visit spend and drive long-term retention.

  • No effective way to reward repeat customers or encourage higher spend per visit.

  • Generalized email promotions lacked segmentation & personalization.

  • No tracking of top spenders or VIP customers.

The Strategy 🎯

VIP Loyalty & Targeted Promotions

We launched a VIP rewards program with structured incentives based on spend & engagement:

Tiered Rewards System:

  • Silver ($0-$99 spent) → Entry-level perks (BOGO deals, small free items).

  • Gold ($100-$299 spent) → Exclusive discounts, double tickets on games, free pizza upgrade.

  • Platinum ($300+ spent) → Private event invitations, early access to deals, free game credits.

Behavior-Based Promotions:

  • Customers who hadn’t visited in 60 days received a personalized incentive to return.

  • VIPs received early access to promotions, driving higher open & engagement rates.

In-Store & Digital Integration:

  • Integrated loyalty with email, SMS, and point-of-sale data, allowing personalized real-time offers.

  • Sent targeted promos based on customer preferences & order history.

The Results 📈

🔥$750K increase in customer lifetime value

🔥 Higher engagement: Email open rates rose by 35%

🔥 Customers spent 22% more per visit

🔥20% increase in VIP program sign-ups

I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Hershberger from 2013 to 2017 as both an indirect and direct report at America’s Incredible Pizza company. Tim was hired as the Vice President of Marketing, but quickly became the Senior Executive Vice President of both Sales and Marketing divisions for our multi-million dollar family entertainment concept.

Since his onboarding and up until the point of his departure, I can confidently say that Mr. Hershberger was the most impactful, game-changing team member to arrive at America’s Incredible Pizza Company.
